I know what you’re thinking… how many things can go into Sterling’s Fiber Optic Splicing Cap?! There are a lot of bonuses this cap offers that other brands simply can’t. With this in mind, we will sum up what is left of the most common features selected for the Splicing Capsule.
Power Distribution Center
The combination 120VAC/12VDC power distribution center provides you all the power you need. Accordingly, it distributes power to the receptacles at the work bench and by the charger. The charger is powered by the 120-volt system and provides 12VDC to the interior and exterior lighting systems. Specifically, this includes the beacon and dome lights mentioned in the previous posts.
No Slip Rubber Mat
The fiberglass capsule is comparable to a hard shell. It wouldn’t be very comfortable or safe to stand and walk on all day. With this in mind, we added a ½” Rubber Mat to the cap floor. The rubber material helps provide a better grip in wet conditions as well as a softer standing surface. The sills in the surface of the rubber mat further improve grip.
Store your most valuable tools. On the right side of the capsule, we’ve added a 4-tier aluminum shelf. It is regularly 48” long to provide storage space at the rear often used for fresh air blowers. Alternatively, you can choose an extended 60” shelf. We generally add a locking door to provide more security for costly equipment like your fusion splicer. Removable parts-keepers and hooks for hanging safety equipment, cables, ropes etc. are popular as well.
