Fiber Optic Splicing Truck Cap: Lightning, Clamp System and Work Bench

Sterling Truck Capsules have a 500 lb capacity in nose cone, are transferable between vehicles and are made of a 1 piece mold so there are no seams or leaks.

At Sterling, we honor our word. Accordingly, there are more aspects to Sterling’s Fiber Optic Splicing Capsule that you need to hear about. We will talk a little bit about securing the capsule to your truck, your work area and how we ensure you have enough lighting in your work space.

LED Lighting

If you’re a Fiber Optic Splicing Technician, you will know how important it is to see what you’re doing. Working with small optic fibers in the dark would not be an easy or safe task. For this reason, our cap includes LED lighting placed strategically above the Work Bench. The 18” dome light has 800 lumens to provide you clear visibility at any time of the day.

Clamp System for Truck

The clamp system is what secures your splicing capsule to your truck. There is no drilling required so you can maintain your resale value. In addition, the clamping system is quite simple to use. To illustrate, Wesley perfectly displays how to install the clamps in the video below.

This capsule can go anywhere a truck can go. In fact, many of our customers bring their caps into rural areas. It is important that your cap is properly secured to your vehicle on rougher terrain. As a safety precaution, we recommend checking the clamping system every three months.

Work Bench

With the intricate work you do as a Fiber Optic Splicer, you need a dedicated work area. The Splicing Capsule includes a work bench. The bench is placed on the left side of the capsule, the same side as the access door and window. It provides the space you need to have a clean area for splicing. Furthermore, underneath the counter top there is a shelf to provide additional storage for tools and supplies.

In conclusion, every feature in the Fiber Optic Splicing Capsule has been implemented to ensure we are doing all we can to make your job easier. When we make your job easier, we are helping you get more done. Don’t miss the post next week summing up the last of the most common splicing cap features.
